About the Author
Brent E. Whetstone

Brent E. Whetstone is an author, father of five, and storyteller with a deep appreciation for family, folklore, and the timeless lessons passed from one generation to the next.
Born and raised in Appalachian Ohio, Brent has spent much of his professional life working in healthcare, pastoral care, and organ donation advocacy. Throughout his career, he has witnessed the extraordinary power of compassion, courage, and the stories that connect us.
His children's book series, Tales of Father Bear, was born from a simple belief: some of life's most important lessons are best taught through stories.
Inspired by his love of Slavic folklore, traditional fairy tales, and the rich storytelling traditions of Eastern Europe, Brent created the world of Father Bear, Mother Bear, and their five cubs in the fictional village of Medvezhay Dolina.
Through their adventures, young readers discover lessons about kindness, bravery, honesty, forgiveness, family, and the importance of standing up for those we love.
As a father of four daughters and a son, Brent draws inspiration from the unique personalities, adventures, and everyday experiences of raising five children. Each of Father Bear's cubs reflects a different part of the wonder, curiosity, and occasional mischief that make childhood so memorable.
With illustrations inspired by the traditional artistry of Ivan Bilibin, Tales of Father Bear celebrates the beauty of old-world storytelling while offering meaningful lessons for modern families.
Brent hopes these stories will become more than books on a shelf. He hopes they will become cherished family traditions, read aloud at bedtime, shared beside a warm fire, and remembered long after childhood has passed.
Because the greatest stories are not simply the ones we tell our children, but the ones they carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Brent lives in Ohio with his wife, Heather, and their five children. Tales of Father Bear is published by Inland Sea Press.
